Mohali (officially Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar) is the IT and cricket suburb of Chandigarh — you cross an invisible line and suddenly the sectors are numbered again and the roads widen. The PCA (Punjab Cricket Association) stadium hosts internationals; Quark City and IT Park hold the tech companies. It's not a tourist destination per se, but it's where you actually stay if you’re doing business in the tri-city, and the hotels are noticeably cheaper than central Chandigarh for the same quality.
By 9pm Sector 70 and Phase 3B2 markets are buzzing — Backpacker's Cafe, Whistling Duck, and the strip along the North Country Mall stay open past midnight. Cricket days pack the entire city. Skip: the older phases (1-5) unless you have a specific address. Suits: business travelers, tech workers on assignment, cricket fans, transit stopovers before flights out of Chandigarh. Skip if you wanted 'authentic' Punjab — Mohali is deliberately new.
Sector 70 and Airport Road (Phase 8/9) have the newer business hotels, $55-110, including Radisson, Hyatt, and JW Marriott. Phase 5 and Phase 3B2 have mid-range at $45-75 with restaurants nearby. Airport Road hotels are 5 minutes from the airport — best if you have an early flight. Avoid the industrial area (Phase 7, 8A) hotels — they exist for factory contractors, no restaurants nearby. Overall Mohali is 20-30% cheaper than same-tier hotels in Chandigarh Sector 17.

Getting around Mohali
Chandigarh International Airport is technically in Mohali — 8km from most sectors, taxi $6-10. Mohali doesn’t have its own train station; Chandigarh Junction (12km) or Ghaggar station is used. Buses to Chandigarh Sector 17 run every 10 minutes from Phase 7 ISBT, $0.40. Inside Mohali autos are cheap ($1-3) but Ola/Uber are more reliable — the sectors confuse auto drivers.

Practically, they merge without a visible border — you can walk from Chandigarh Sector 43 to Mohali Phase 1 without noticing. Same taxis operate, same phone codes.
